Large motor yacht underway
Dear MPG/One80 Brokers:

With the New Year comes big changes for Maritime Program Group, particularly within our Yacht and Rec Marine Facilities departments. With very mixed emotions, we celebrate the departure of several of our staff who are retiring, while we also welcome several new team members.

Employees who have either just retired, effective 12/31, or who will retire at the end of this month, 1/31, include Michael Terrier, Yacht Department Manager for 17 years, Sue Williams, Yacht Underwriter for 15 years, John Hewlett, Yacht Underwriter for 14 years, Brenda Champagne, Rec Marine Facilities Underwriter for 18 years and Deb Cameron, Administrative Assistant for 17 years. We thank each of these individuals for their contributions and loyal dedication that have shaped MPG into the largest and longest tenured program underwriter of recreational marine insurance. We will miss our crew members dearly and wish each of them the very best on their new journey, as they have all been more than just employees or co-workers, they have been family and will forever remain part of the MPG crew!

With retirements come new beginnings as we have embraced the opportunity to expand the MPG family! You have likely seen several announcements over the past few months as MPG has been preparing for this change by bringing on new hires. We have added a great crew of veteran industry underwriters to support our brokers and continued growth:

  • Paul Sexton joins MPG as Sr. Yacht Underwriter. With 25 years of yacht underwriting experience, Paul’s primary responsibility will be underwriting our in-house Lloyds Yacht Program, SeaWave.
  • Craig McGinnes took the helm as our Director of Yacht Underwriting. With 25 years of combined yacht underwriting and claims experience, Craig smoothly transitions the leadership of our yacht department, overseeing MPG’s in-house yacht underwriting programs, including NHIC, SeaWave and Prime Time.
  • Diane Kaufman joins MPG as Yacht Underwriter. With 22 years of Yacht Underwriting experience, Diane will be underwriting MPG’s Prime Time program for high performance boats as well as underwriting for NHIC Yachts.
  • Kristy Curtis joins MPG as Yacht Underwriter and will put her 12 years of yacht underwriting experience to work replacing Sue Williams as the NHIC underwriter for the Mid-Atlantic territory.
  • Lee Casey joins MPG as an Account Executive in our Yacht Brokerage Group. Lee comes from the retail agency side where she was a Yacht Producer for 5 years and did Yacht Financing for 8 years as well. Lee is utilizing her knowledge placing yacht business with our brokered markets and already making her mark on our brokerage team!

With the addition of these talented individuals combined with our existing seasoned staff and the number of partner carriers, programs and capacity we now have, MPG truly stands alone as the go to market for boats and yachts anywhere in the U.S.!

Last, but not least, despite the challenges we all faced as a nation and industry, 2020 was a tremendous year for MPG and we owe all of our success to our broker partnerships; thank you all very much! We look forward to prosperous and healthy 2021 for all of us! Always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Best regards,
