Our History

With founding origins dating back to 1990, the entity now operating as Maritime Program Group (MPG) formally began in 2010 with the rebranding of three specialty entities – Maritime General Agency, Marine MGA, and Windward Marine Underwriters – which, when combined became the largest program underwriter of Recreational Marine Insurance in the United States.

In September of 2016, Axiom Insurance Management merged their operations into MPG, further complimenting MPG’s strength in Recreational Marine while expanding into Axiom’s deep niche competency of commercial marine facilities including Ship Repairers, Stevedores, Port Authorities, Terminal Operators, Wharfingers and other miscellaneous commercial marine operations.

MPG became a subsidiary of One80 Intermediaries in January 2020.  As a leading U.S. insurance wholesaler and program manager, the company offers placement services and binding authority for property & casualty, financial lines, personal lines, and medical stop loss risks.

As Maritime Program Group, we provide a complete suite of Recreational, Inland, and Commercial Ocean Marine Insurance solutions and Private Client Services to our network of brokers. We have a compliment of in-house underwriting programs with the highest rated domestic insurance companies as well as Lloyds of London through our coverholder status.

Axiom Insurance Management, Ltd. was founded in 1997 by Alison Kelly and Clark Travitz and headquartered in Atlanta, GA. As an underwriting organization, Axiom manages underwriting authorities primarily for marine liabilities over commercial marine facilities as well as Hull and P&I risks.
